Between March 6th – April 25th Artcite Inc. is pleased to welcome artist Osvaldo Ramirez Castillo. Re-constructions is an exploration of new inter-disciplinary approaches to drawing focused on the legacy and impact of the Salvadoran civil war. Motivated by an intuitive construction of collective memory through personal storytelling, the Castillo’s work will feature mixed media drawing, stop-motion animation video and installation work merging issues of historical trauma, intergenerational knowledge, identity and violence.

Osvaldo Ramirez Castillo immigrated to Canada at age 11 in 1989 during the Civil War period in El Salvador. He is a graduate of The Ontario College of Art and Design (2001) and obtained his MFA degree at Concordia University in2008. A former resident of Montréal, he now lives and works in Vancouver.
