Members' Night: Writing & Story-Sharing w/ Teajai Travis

  • Artcite Inc 109 University Avenue West Windsor, ON, N9A 5P4 Canada (map)

An invitation for participants to share a family/personal story that will lead to an offering to have that story documented via audio and/or video. The session will conclude with an open discussion about the importance of storytelling and why it’s critical that we document and preserve our stories.

Teajai Travis is a community artist working out of Windsor Ontario. He serves on the Board of Directors for Literary Arts Windsor, the Windsor Workers' Action Centre, and Engage Windsor. He mentors for Family Fuse, sits on the organizing committee for Stone and Sky Music & Art Series, and serves on the Community Steering Committee for Bridging North America, where he is advocating on behalf of Sandwich Town during the construction of the Gordie Howe Bridge. Teajai is an arts educator with Arts Can Teach, the founder of The Bloomfield House, Open Space Art Studio, Free Verse Poetry Share, and the current Executive Director of Artcite Inc. Most recently, Teajai founded Sacred Story Studio, where he hosts and produces a monthly storytelling series called A Blaze of Story. When Teajai isn't running around town barely managing any of the above projects, he’s spending quiet time at home with his partner Beanz, their dog Manco, and of course the birds Dexter and Cashew.
