Shannon Scanlan: Pink Room 2

Shannon Scanlan, 2016.

Shannon Scanlan, 2016.

Both inviting and abject, Pink Room is a gendered, soft sculptural installation that immerses the viewer in amorphous bodily forms crafted out of materials such as fabric, insulation foam, pillow filler and rope. Drawing inspiration from the phenomenological philosopher Merleau-Ponty, the artist creates an environment where the viewer perceives or experiences the work with their body.
