Artcite Inc., Windsor’s Artist-run Centre for the Contemporary Arts was pleased to present SUMMER ART FEST 2012. Following in the footsteps of four previous Visual Fringe presentations for the Windsor International Fringe Festival, SUMMER ART FEST 2012, invited artists to team up with downtown Windsor businesses and/or were placed in vacant storefront spaces and associated galleries to showcase their art works/site installations during this exciting, FUN summer festival.

Located in sites throughout downtown Windsor! Artcite Inc., Windsor’s only non-profit, artist-run centre for the Contemporary Arts, presents its 5th annual ARTCITE’S SUMMER ART FEST 2012 (previously Visaul Fringe) featuring the works of over 115 Windsor-Essex, Detroit area and U.S. artists in over 28 downtown galleries, businesses and storefronts from July 20 – August 4, 2012.

ARTCITE’S SUMMER ART FEST 2012 is an open, un-juried and curated off-site exhibition; mixed media site installations, interventions and performances Exciting and cutting edge contemporary art by local and international artists coming to a downtown storefront near YOU!

For the last 4 years, with the generous project support of downtown Windsor landlords, business owners and the City of Windsor, Artcite placed a variety of art in a wide range of storefront, in-store and available-for-rent retail spaces. Artists from Windsor and surrounding areas,  including the Detroit area, exhibited their artwork in non-traditional, storefront venues.   ARTCITE’S SUMMER ART FEST 2012 is located in sites throughout downtown Windsor! Admission is free. Programs include storefront exhibits, mini galleries, performances, children’s workshops (free!) and a (free!) walking tour. The ARTCITE’S SUMMER ART FEST 2012 provides an excellent opportunity for the folks in Downtown Windsor and visitors to see new works by numerous emerging and established artists in an accessible, fun (non-gallery) setting.

Many thanks to our business partners, associated galleries and , as well, to: the City of Windsor Cultural Affairs Office, Romeo DeCaro, the Yu & family at The Silk Road Express, Curry Repro/ Graphics —and our participating artists!
