What Works? #3: What is a Programming Coordinator? w/ Sophie Hinch and Stephen Mueller

An introduction to the role of Programming Coordinator in the Arts; a collaborative workshop with two facilitators offering comparative insight into arts administration.

Sophie Hinch is a francophone artist, educator, and arts administrator currently residing and practicing in Essex, ON. A University of Windsor graduate (BFA), Sophie has worked at the Leamington Arts Centre as Curatorial and Programming Assistant and as Artist-in-residence for the CSC Providence. She also served as secretary to the Board of Directors at Artcite Inc. in Windsor, ON, president of the Vanguard Youth Arts Collective at the Arts Council Windsor and Region, and currently serves as president of the Bureau des Regroupements des Artistes Visuels de l’Ontario (BRAVO). Sophie currently works for Art Windsor-Essex as Education and Public Programs Coordinator. In her own work, Sophie is interested in incorporating elements of nature and mapping to explore topics related to culture and Place.

Stephen Mueller is a performance and installation artist, arts administrator, occasional arts educator, and PhD dropout. He holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Calgary and a BFA in Visual Arts from the University of Windsor. His work has been exhibited in Artist-Run Centres across Canada, including Open Space (Victoria), Eastern Edge (St. John’s), The New Gallery (Calgary), Latitude 53 (Edmonton), Artcite Inc. (Windsor) and Forest City Gallery (London). His durational performances have appeared in numerous festivals, including: Words and [ ]: A Durational Conference of Art and Thought (Montréal), the 2016 Duration and Dialogue Performance Art Festival (Toronto), M:ST 7 (Calgary), Visualeyez 13 (Edmonton) and the 2011 Art Gallery of Windsor Biennial, curated by Iain Baxter&. In April 2020, he initiated the collaborative Instagram project Performing Together. Stephen currently serves his community as the Programming Coordinator for Artcite Inc.


This event is part of our monthly What Works? series, an ongoing practical skills workshop program for youth working toward a career in arts administration. What Works? is open to all Windsor-Essex area youth, ages 15–24, and is part of the Community Leadership for Aspiring Arts Professionals (CLAAP) program. Registration required. Spaces are limited.
