Artcite Inc. is welcoming applications for a summer contract position funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. The CSJ program supports employment for youth between the ages of 15 and 30. To confirm your eligibility, please review the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria.

This is an 8-week contract position beginning June 30 and ending August 24, 2025. The position is 30 hours per week at $17.20/hour, with work taking place in person at Artcite Inc. (998 Drouillard Rd, Windsor, ON).

POSITION:
Assistant to the Programming Director

The successful candidate will support the Programming Director in the day-to-day operations of Artcite Inc., Windsor’s only non-profit, artist-run centre for the contemporary arts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build skills in arts administration, event planning, communications, and hands-on gallery work.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with exhibition installation, de-installation, and event coordination.

  • Help set up the new gallery space by rebuilding the archive and library, organizing storage, and contributing to basic painting and interior work.

  • Support promotion and outreach: contribute to newsletters, website updates, and social media content.

  • Support administrative tasks such as responding to inquiries and documenting exhibitions and events.

  • Contribute ideas to planning meetings and help problem-solve logistical challenges.

  • Perform front-line gallery attendant duties, including greeting visitors and answering questions.

  • Assist with general gallery upkeep, including cleaning and preparing spaces for exhibitions and events.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Digital proficiency in Google Workspace, Squarespace, MailChimp, Instagram, and Facebook

  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Effective interpersonal communication and professional writing skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to handle shifting priorities

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Comfortable with light physical tasks, including lifting and moving supplies

  • Experience in gallery operations, event planning, or community programming is an asset

  • Photo and video capture/editing skills are an asset
