Join us at Artcite for a jam-packed month of community-focused, members-based events and opportunities, anchored by our 2023 members’ exhibition and fundraiser, TOGETHERNESS.

From free weekly members’ nights, to weekend art jams and pop-up mini markets, we’ve got something for everyone! We'll also be offering discounts and free entry for members to some of our ticketed programs, like See/Saw and Table Talk.

2023 Members’ Exhibition
Opening reception: Friday, November 17, 6–9pm

Presenting our 2023 members' exhibition, sale, and annual fundraiser: TOGETHERNESS! Over 100 artworks by 27 local artists, exhibited in a salon-style display from November 17–December 16, 2023. Everything is for sale and all proceeds are split 50/50 between the artists and Artcite. Pop-Up Mini Markets

We're hosting pop-up mini markets every Friday and Saturday evening during TOGETHERNESS! Three vendors per evening will be set up in the gallery from 4–7pm, alongside our members' exhibition and weekend art jams. Treat yourself or someone you love, while supporting your local art, craft, and food entrepreneurs in the process!

Art Jams
Join us every weekend* as we make timed artworks in the gallery using randomly selected prompts. We’ll supply the materials, you bring the creativity! All are welcome and everything is free. Stay as long as you’d like, make as much art as you’d like. Participants are welcome to hang their work in the gallery for possible sale at a flat cost of $20. 100% of the proceeds from works sold will go to the artists.

Members’ Night: No Stakes Art Battle w/ Batoolio
Explore your artistic limitations in live head-to-head art battles, hosted by Batoolio! Participants will compete in teams of two for 20 minutes per round, creating paintings using a pre-chosen colour palette and theme. Winners take home the title of first-ever Artcite Art Battle Champions!

Members’ Night: Memento Show & Tell w/ Stephen Mueller
Been holding on to something? A reminder, a relic, a memorial, a souvenir? Looking for someone to share it with, or somewhere to let it go? Join local artist, Stephen Mueller, for an impromptu, intimate evening of show and tell. Memento required (one per person).

December 6, 6–9pm

Members’ Night: Writing & Story-Sharing w/ Teajai Travis
An invitation for participants to share a family/personal story that will lead to an offering to have that story documented via audio and or video. The session will conclude with an open discussion about the importance of storytelling and why it’s critical that we document and preserve our stories.

Members’ Night: Felting Workshop w/ Rebecca Haddad
Come get festive at Rebecca's felting workshop! Together, we'll create holiday ornaments using dyed wool. You'll learn how to use basic felting tools and techniques to sculpt some mini holiday masterpieces.

Table Talk #4: Millets: An Ancient Grain w/ Vijayalakshmi Sivasamy
Table Talk is a bi-monthly series that invites folks to consider the ways food and art come together to transform, connect, and nourish. This month our presenter is Vijayalakshmi Sivasamy, owner of Iyal. Viji will be presenting Millets: An Ancient Grain. From millet-based muesli, porridge, and other breakfast cereals, to millet fried rice, Viji will share her experiences with these easy-to-make traditional comfort foods, as staples of her and her son's childhood diets. TOGETHERNESS discount: 20% off for Artcite members.

What Works? #3: What is a Programming Coordinator? w/ Sophie Hinch and Stephen Mueller
An introduction to the role of Programming Coordinator in the Arts; a collaborative workshop with two facilitators offering comparative insight into arts administration. Sophie Hinch and Stephen Mueller are both practicing artists, educators, and arts administrators residing in the Windsor-Essex area. Sophie is the Education and Public Programs Coordinator at Art Windsor-Essex, and Stephen is the current Programming Coordinator at Artcite Inc. Registration is FREE.

November 25 + December 9, 5:30–7pm
Community Connector
FREE open mic poetry, storytelling, and drum circle hosted by Teajai Travis, the City of Windsor’s Multicultural Community Storyteller. All are welcome; participation is FREE.

December 2, 7–10:30pm
See/Saw #4: Yi Yi
Join us in the gallery for an intimate screening of the extraordinary, internationally embraced Yi Yi (A One and a Two…), directed by the late Taiwanese master Edward Yang. Yi Yi follows a middle-class family in Taipei over the course of one year, beginning with a wedding and ending with a funeral. Whether chronicling middle-age father NJ’s tentative flirtations with an old flame or precocious young son Yang-Yang’s attempts at capturing reality with his beloved camera, the filmmaker deftly imbues every gorgeous frame with a compassionate clarity. Warm, sprawling, and dazzling, this intimate epic is one of the undisputed masterworks of the new century. Film starts at 7:30pm. TOGETHERNESS discount: FREE for Artcite members.

PowerPoint Karaoke
Deliver a presentation based on ten slides you’ve never seen before. No prep! No pressure! Attendance and participation are both FREE.
